lifechanging-power-coachingThe life-changing power of coaching

Socrates once said, “To know thyself is the beginning of wisdom,” which is pretty solid advice. However, how can you expect to accomplish great things if you don’t know who you are or what your purpose is?

Let me ask you something,

Can you respond to these questions without thinking?... How do I ideally describe myself? What am I struggling with at the moment? What am I interested in? Am I interested enough to invest more time and effort into it? What do I do outside of my work? What is the quality of my relationships with people? What kind of people do I want to be with/around, and why? What are you inspired by? What do I want to be remembered for? How do I want to contribute to the people around me?

Well,

You may need a coach...

In this article, you will learn about the following:

  • Four benefits of coaching
  • The life-changing power of hypnocoaching
  • What to look for in a coach
  • Your God-giving potential

Four benefits of coaching

1. A coach can help you to set better goals.

One of the primary benefits of coaching is that it can help you to set better goals. A good coach will work with you to identify your long-term objectives and then help you to break those objectives down into smaller, more manageable goals. Having well-defined goals is essential for achieving success in any area of life.

2. A coach can help you to overcome obstacles.

Another benefit of coaching is that it can help you overcome obstacles preventing you from reaching your goals. A coach will work with you to identify the root causes of your problems and then develop a plan for addressing those problems. Additionally, a coach can provide support and motivation when you struggle to stay on track.

3. A coach can help you to develop new skills.

In addition to helping you to set better goals and overcome obstacles, a coach can also help you to develop new skills that will be beneficial in achieving your objectives. A coach will work with you to identify your strengths and weaknesses and then help you to develop strategies for improving your weaker areas. Additionally, a coach can provide guidance and support as you learn new skills.

4. A coach can help you to stay accountable.

Finally, one of the essential benefits of coaching is that it can help you to stay accountable for your actions. A coach will work with you regularly to review your progress and ensure that you take the necessary steps to reach your goals. Additionally, a coach can provide encouragement and motivation when you are feeling discouraged or doubtful about your ability to achieve success.

The life-changing power of hypnocoaching

To talk about coaching, we need to speak of the “Dilts’ Logical Levels.”

Robert B. Dilts defined six levels of thinking: environment, behavior, capability or competence, beliefs, identity, and spirituality, and are usually visualized as a hierarchy (Environment at the button and spirituality at the top).

But how does this relate to hypnosis? Robert B. Dilts is one of the heads of Neurolinguistic Programming and was a student of Milton Erikson, one of the greatest hypnotists. And hypnosis works very well on the top levels of this hierarchy: belief and identity. In the following article, I will go deep into this. In this article, it is essential to give you an idea at what level you need help to change your problem.

The Six Levels

Environment

The environment refers to the external circumstances that influence our behavior. If you’re operating at this level, you’ll likely be focused on explaining what happened and who was there rather than delving into your internal thoughts and feelings. The story will usually be about somebody else, not yourself. As a result, you may find yourself complaining often.

Behavior

Our behavior encompasses all the actions and reactions we display in response to environmental stimuli. If we’re describing our behavior, we’ll touch on what we did or thought, what could have been done, and how that would’ve affected the situation.

Capability or Competence

The ‘how’ level of capability or competence might be referred to as skills and development. This drives behavior towards a personal goal through strategies honing one’s abilities. A person operating at this level always thinks about how they can achieve something and what skills they need to develop.

Belief

Belief might be best described as the degree of “why” and is sometimes referred to as “values.” It’s about the reasoning behind the behavior, including any intrinsic values. Beliefs and values can either support or harm capabilities. For example, if you believe that you’re “no good at drawing,” it could prevent you from getting better at art.”

Identity

Identity encompasses who you are as a person. This term is often used in discussions about self-actualization, such as ‘What do I like?’, ‘What makes me tick?’ and ‘What is my passion?’ People struggling with stress or burnout frequently think about these types of things.

Spirituality

Spirituality is not limited to the logical levels and might even be considered a step above them. It’s about what else exists beyond the individual and how we’re all interconnected in a more extensive system. Some people describe this as the ‘wisdom’ level, while others see it as part of identity - how you view yourself concerning Everyone Else.

Since this is a hierarchy, if you change the top level, all the lower levels will change too. If you change your spiritual direction, everything else will follow suit. On the other hand, if you can’t control the more basic things on this hierarchy - like your environment - then you’ll be at the mercy of circumstance and unable to use your free will.

If you’re feeling stuck and feel like you can’t break out of your current situation, you might need a coach.

What to look for in a coach

When looking for a coach, it is vital to consider the following factors:

  1. Experience – It is crucial to choose a coach who has experience in the area of coaching that you are seeking help with. For example, if you want help with weight loss, choose a coach who has experience in helping people lose weight.
  2. Credentials – Ensure that the coach you choose is credentialed and qualified to provide coaching services. Many different coaching certification programs are available, so be sure to research before selecting a coach.
  3. Personality – It is essential to find a coach who you feel comfortable working with. The coach’s personality should complement your own, and you should feel confident they have your best interests at heart.
  4. Availability – Be sure to choose a coach available at times that work for you. Many coaches offer in-person and online coaching services, so ask about their availability before committing to working with them.
  5. Initial and final measurement - The coaching process can only begin if you first measure where you are starting from (point A) and where your desired endpoint is (point B). Coaching is about moving forward and making progress; if you don’t know your beginning or endpoints, it will be difficult to gauge that progress.

Your God-giving potential

I want to finish my article with the idea of God-given potential. As Christians, we are here for a reason, not by chance. Always remember that God has created everything with potential, including you and me. He wants us to use the full extent of what He has given us by taking each day one step at a time. Success should never be measured based on other people’s opinions or societal standards. Too often allow ourselves to think, act, and behave in ways that are less than our best because we fear what others will think or say. But sub-par living is not our only option! It’s time to break free from the chains of mediocrity and reach for the stars!

To live a victorious life, we need only look within ourselves – God has already given us everything we require. As St. Paul says:

We are not to conform any longer to the standards of the world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind.”

(Roman 12:2)

Everything can achieve its purpose in life—people who die without maximizing their potential cheat the world of their latent ability. To die with an unfulfilled ability is irresponsible. God gifted us with talents for the benefit of others. We must use them ideally. No matter how rich or poor, every person has childhood dreams--the key to achieving fulfillment in life.

Why settle for a life of mediocrity when you have the potential to achieve great things? If you believe in your dreams, start taking steps to make them a reality and pray that God will open doors and bring people who can help you turn your dreams into reality. Remember, our ultimate potential is found in Christ:

Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)

As Christians, we have a responsibility to find our God-given potential, and a coach can help you to:

Cultivate your potential to help others:

Keep a close watch on all you do and think. Stay true to what is right and God will bless you and use you to help others.”

(1 Timothy 4:16)

Guard your potential:

But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.

(2 Cor.4:7)

Improve your potential:

Put these abilities to work; throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone may notice your improvement and progress.” (1 Timothy 4:15)

Reflect on your life and learn:

Learn to be wise”, he says “and develop good judgement and common sense! I cannot overemphasize this point. Cling to wisdom — she will protect you. Love her-she will guard you.” (Proverbs 4:5–6)

Embrace change:

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11)

Accept your failures:

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Become an optimist:

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen.”

(Isaiah 60:22)

Set your benchmark:

Everything is possible for one who believes” (Mk 9:23)
